Optimising battery life

Here are some general tips to improve battery life of your LYF smartphone:

Update to the latest software.

Software updates for your LYF mobile phone might include some energy-saving technologies implemented, and hence its advisable to make sure your device always on the latest software build version.

Steps to check for updates:

You can check your device’s software version and android version as follows:

• Open your device's Settings app

• Scroll to the bottom and touch ‘About phone’

• This shows the android version, build number etc. on your device

Usually you get a notification on your device when you have a software update available. Once you get it, just swipe down from the top of any screen to open the notification and touch ‘Download to start the update.

If you haven't gotten a notification and want to check if there's an update available for your device:

•Open your device's Settings app Settings.

•Scroll to the bottom and touch ‘About phone > ‘Wireless update’.

•Touch ‘Check for updates to see if you have an update waiting. Or touch ‘Download’ if there's one already available.

Keep the phone away from extreme temperatures

Your device is designed to perform well in a certain range of temperatures. It’s especially important to avoid exposing your device to high temperatures to avoid damaging battery capacity. Generally it is safe limit is Ambient temperature + 20°C. 

Remove certain cases during charging.

Certain phone covers or cases may generate excess heat while charging your device and can affect battery capacity. If you notice that your device gets hot when you charge it, take it out of its case first.

Optimise your settings.

There are two simple ways you can preserve battery life — no matter how you use your device: adjust your screen brightness and use Wi‑Fi.

Dim the screen or turn to extend battery life.

•Open your device's Settings app

•Tap ‘Display’.

•To set your screen's brightness level, tap ‘Brightness level’ and move the slider Brightness to left to dim the screen

Adaptive brightness

To automatically optimize your screen's brightness level for the light around you, turn ON ‘Adaptive brightness’. 

Use Wi-Fi connection to access data

•Open your device’s Settings app

•Under ‘Wireless & networks’ touch ‘Wi-Fi’ or ‘WLAN’.

•Touch the Wi-Fi switch to turn it to the ON position.

•You'll see a list of saved and available networks.

•Touch a network name from the list of available networks to connect to it. You'll see a lock icon   if the network is secured and you need to enter a password to connect.

Once connected, your device will say ‘Connected’ under the network name and it will show up in your saved networks list. Your device will automatically connect to it when in range.

Enable Battery saver mode

•Open your device’s Settings app

•Under ‘Device’ touch ‘Battery’.

•Touch the menu on the top right side of the screen (next to search button)

•From the drop-down menu select ‘Battery saver’

•Turn it ON to enable the Battery saver mode
